So May starts off with a short pass or at least that what i think the letters imply. Sounds like he goes up to Boston to see family but family went to the base to see him? They’re keeping Dad pretty busy with drilling and kitchen duty but he will get a 24 hours pass to finally see Audrey by mid-month. Then the 3-day pass. Funny how they live for the time together then worry about getting “caught”. That’s how they refer to getting pregnant but in 1942, it’s not if Audrey will, it’s when. So far, they’re lucky.
To back-up the price fixing order detailed in the Boston Globe on April 29, 1942, professional shoppers will be policing retail stores for price gouging. Need to look into that a bit more. A business would probably think twice before raising their price if they face the wrath of angry consumers. In other news, the war is being paid for – paid for – by bonds.
